Student Worker: Photographer & Digital Historian

Overview:

The Photography & Digital Historian will support the Communications and Marketing team by capturing photos at university events and maintaining an organized digital archive of images. This role is ideal for a student who is creative, detail-oriented, and reliable, with a passion for photography and digital storytelling. The position requires flexibility for night and weekend event coverage as needed, along with scheduled office hours to organize and properly name photography files in Dropbox.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Attend and photograph university events throughout the semester, including some nights and weekends using a DSLR camera (required).
  • Ensure high-quality event coverage by capturing key moments, campus life, and student engagement.
  • Spend at least two hours per week walking campus to find unique opportunities to record the history of Concordia Texas through photography—such as students heading to class, eating in the cafeteria, or engaging with faculty.
  • Organize, rename, and categorize photography files in Dropbox for easy retrieval and future use.
  • Assist the Communications and Marketing team in selecting and curating photos for marketing materials.
  • Identify and suggest additional photo opportunities that reflect the vibrancy of campus life and history.
  • Maintain accurate records of events covered and photo usage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively seek out storytelling moments through photography.
