Admissions Counselor I

POSITION SUMMARY

The Admissions Counselor I plays a pivotal role in expanding Concordia University Texas's enrollment within an assigned territory through the development and execution of targeted recruitment activities to attract and enroll new students. This role serves a diverse range of prospective students across all academic programs, including undergraduate, transfer, adult, and graduate populations.

The Admissions Counselor I will actively support the University’s strategic admissions plan by promoting Concordia University Texas to external audiences and communicating the various academic and extracurricular opportunities available. Through proactive outreach and relationship-building, this position contributes directly to the University's mission of growing and maintaining a vibrant and diverse student body.

 

POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Recruitment/Outreach: Develop strong working relationships within an assigned market, including public and private schools, community colleges, pastors, or businesses. Utilize visitation programs, electronic communications, presentations, and promotional events to engage these groups. Collaborate with fellow admissions counselors to coordinate and execute student orientation events, providing valuable information to prospective students and their families about the University and its programs. Ensure consistent follow-up on inquiries to maintain engagement and move students through the admissions process.
  • Advising: Provide guidance to prospective students, families, and applicants on pre-admissions requirements, transfer guidelines, financial aid opportunities, and general academic advising, where applicable. Offer personalized support to ensure a clear understanding of the admissions process and available resources, helping students make informed decisions about their educational journey.
  • Enrollment: Contribute to meeting enrollment goals by supporting the admissions team in evaluating and refining existing programs, while also assisting in the development of new enrollment strategies. Prepare and distribute information and application packets to prospective students and parents, ensuring timely follow-up to maintain engagement and drive applications. Actively work towards achieving enrollment targets by being proactive in all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Support: Perform general administrative tasks, including maintaining organized filing systems, sorting and processing mail, managing expense reports, and providing assistance to your supervisor as needed. Contribute to the smooth functioning of the admissions office by completing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and progressively related experience in admissions initiatives.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service or sales experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork and collaborate effectively with others in goal setting, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, create work schedules, monitor progress, and track results.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of print, web, and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with SIS (Student Information Systems) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database systems.
  • Ability to understand and uphold Concordia University Texas’s values, mission, policies, and procedures.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Non-traditional work hours required, including evenings and weekends, with up to 75% statewide travel.
  • Must be able to walk around campuses multiple times a day.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed.
  • Must be able to sit or stand at a computer for 6 to 7 hours a day while in the office.
