Education Compliance Officer

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Education Compliance Coordinator serves the College of Education. This position provides program leadership, oversight, and execution of the College of Education's programmatic accreditation and regulatory compliance to state agencies related to state certifications for education. Additionally, this role serves as the compliance expert and primary resource among state agencies, the college, and the college’s faculty members in relation to programs, regulations, rules, and standards in the areas of teacher, principal, and superintendent certification. The coordinator will also work closely with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) regarding all state certification programs and standards. Furthermore, this position supports the College of Education by assisting the department with administrative duties. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a working understanding (or the aptitude to learn) of education (and higher education), including the organizational complexities of schools, programs, and academic requirements.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Implements & maintains procedures for retrieval and storage of data, updating ECOS, Banner and COE data files.
  • Collects and analyzes educator certification data from state reports while maintaining all CEO certification pages.
  • Updates and maintains all College of Education student and graduate files/data in Banner.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and verifies certification sought out by students; transcripts, files, test, and other benchmark results – meeting the SBEC and COE requirements prior to certification program admission, clinical teaching, program completion and certification recommendation.
  • Monitors student performance on TEA assessments and reports results in a timely manner to program coordinators/directors.
  • Manages clinical teaching/practicum process for all students, including processing and documenting data to align with all TEA requirements.
  • Guides University Supervisors in all expectations of the supervisory process for clinical teaching/practicum programs, including processing and documenting data/forms pursuant with TEA requirements and timelines.
  • Coordinates with academic staff, faculty, and regulatory agencies to develop policies and procedures to encourage effective and efficient compliance and regulatory management.
  • Communicates with undergraduate and graduate students regarding internship and certification processes and requirements.
  • Actively participates in the Texas Association of Certification Officers (TACO) and maintains membership to develop professional knowledge and relationship representing CTX.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Remains current and up to date on college/program rules/laws and interprets SBEC policies and TEA requirements for CTX certification programs.
    • Informs COE faculty of new TEA and regulatory requirements in a proactive manner.
    • Develops, implements, coordinates, and manages tactical processes for programmatic accreditation and state agency requirements related to regulatory, legal and educational compliance.
    • Serves as a primary resource for Education Preparatory Program (EPP) with TEA and ensures compliance with all TEA and federal data and Title II reporting.
    • Oversees, organizes, coordinates, completes and ensures the accurate and timely filing of annual and other required reports with the college director for reporting.
  • Updating COE webpages as needed.
  • Other duties assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree in Education preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written (grammar & punctuation) communication skills
    • Proficient in MS Office & knowledge in Banner ERP System
  • Ability to interact with the public and represent the University with a polished professionalism
  • High level of responsibility, including the ability to take initiative, be on time and complete tasks with a superior level of excellence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Repetitive keyboarding
  • Multiple trips walking around campus.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand at a computer for 5-7 hours daily.
