Rev. Dr. Curtis P. Giese is a professor of religion at Concordia University Texas, teaching Greek and New Testament since 2004. He received his education at Concordia University, St. Paul, MN (B.A.), Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO (M.Div., S.T.M), Lutherische Theologische Hochschule, Germany, and Hebrew Union College, Cincinnati (M.Phil, Ph.D). He served as assistant pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, and mission developer/pastor of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Harrison, OH (1994-1997). Before being called to CTX, Giese served as assistant/associate professor of religion at Concordia University Ann Arbor for seven years (1997-2004). He is author of 2 Peter and Jude (2012) and James (2021) in the Concordia Commentary series and has served as the New Testament Editor of the same series since 2012. He is coauthor of Called to Be God’s People: An Introduction to the Old Testament (2006). Giese has also written commentary portions of the Lutheran Study Bible, articles in the Lutheran Witness, Concordia Pulpit Resources, German devotions, multiple conference papers, and regularly speaks on Lutheran radio (KFUO, St. Louis). He and his wife Nancy have been married thirty-four years and are blessed with one son, Caleb.
