As an incoming first-year student, your first step is registering for our Embark! New Student Orientation – a mandatory and exciting introduction to life at CTX. This immersive experience is designed to get you and your guests introduced to the vibrant community awaiting you on campus. Join us for an event filled with engaging information sessions and enjoyable activities that promise to set the stage for your success at CTX.

Welcome to the Tornado Family
You will not want to miss the exciting activities we have planned for you and the Concordia Texas community experience. You'll get to make meaningful connections, play games, and meet your future Tornados! Remember to check out the list of activities and what you should bring.
During new student orientation, there will be sessions that involve both students and guests together, as well as separate sessions dedicated to guests and students. Family and guests will participate in engaging family symposiums during orientation.
Families and guests should make their own accommodation plans. Students will spend the night in the residence halls.

2025 Incoming Student Checklist
- Register for Orientation: Embark is Concordia Texas’s new student orientation where you’ll discover all the ins and outs of Tornado Nation.
- Meet your Academic Planner and your Financial Planner: Schedule a meeting with your Academic Planner and Financial Planner before starting your Fall 2024 semester at Concordia Texas.
- Submit Final Transcripts & Test Scores: Please bring official copies of all test scores and final transcripts if you have not already submitted them to admissions@concordia.edu.
- Meningitis Vaccination: Please make sure you submit your Meningitis Vaccination documentation prior to Orientation.
- FERPA: If you want to grant access to any or all of your student information to family members, please submit this form.
- Student ID & Parking Pass: Submit the request forms for both your Student ID and your Parking Pass so you can pick them up at orientation.
- Technical Tools Training: Get started on your Technical Tools Training through Blackboard. This training is required and must be completed by Friday of the first week of classes.
- Math Placement: Before you arrive on campus for New Student Orientation, please complete
one of the steps below to receive a math place score. Your math placement score is
required and helps us determine the right math course to place you in for your first
year in college.
- Send Concordia Texas your ACT or SAT scores, if you have not already.
- Send Concordia Texas your TSI scores; please see this guide that shows you how to view and send your TSI score report to us.
- Take Concordia Texas’s free Math Placement Assessment, ALEKS.
- Create your login at www.aleks.com and use class code: 4DWTU-NJ6NQ
- If you have completed college-level math at a different institution, please submit your transcripts to admissions@concordia.edu.

Where do students spend the night?
Students will spend the night in a residence hall room on campus with an assigned Embark! roommate. Please note that your roommate for Embark! may not be your assigned roommate for the academic year.

What should I bring to orientation?
- XL Twin Bedding, including sheets, blankets or a sleeping bag, set of towels, and pillows
- Personal items such as medicine and hygiene products
- Change of comfortable clothes for the next day’s activities
- Reusable water bottle

Can my family or guests attend orientation with me?
Yes! We would love for you to bring your family to orientation. Please Note: Family members, friends, and guests will need to make their own accommodations, while students will spend the night in the residence halls on campus.

What’s the parent or guest experience during Embark?
Family members and guests will have special programming during Embark! There will be sessions where students and parents/guests will be together and sessions where the groups are separated.

Where do guests stay overnight during the event?
Guests should plan their own accommodations during orientation. While students stay in the residence halls, parents and guests will not. Below is a list of hotels near Concordia Texas.

What meals are covered for students?
For Students:Lunch and dinner will be served on the first day of orientation. The following day, breakfast will be served.
For Family Members & Guests:Lunch and horse d’oeuvres will be provided during the first day of orientation.

Where should we park?
Students, family members, and guests can park in Parking Lot C. Concordia will provide golf carts throughout the day to transport students and family members across campus. While Parking Lot C is the best place to park, you can park anywhere on campus.

What if I need special accommodations?
If you need special accommodations, please note this on your registration form for Embark! or contact your Admissions Counselor so that we can coordinate additional assistance.

Will there be a translator at Embark?
Yes! All main sessions will offer a digital Spanish translation.
