Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director the Assistant Athletic Director Diversity and Student Athlete Services will assist in management of the departmental operations of NCAA and ASC compliance certification and reporting. The Assistant Director will be a primary contact with the NCAA and ASC for the reporting of violations by student athletes, staff members and coaches. The Assistant Director will coordinate student athlete certification for men’s and women’s sports, provide diversity programming and training to student athletes and athletic department staff and coaches. The Assistant Director will oversee student athlete services in the areas of: athletic training, student athlete academic tracking/communication, student athlete wellness and supervise the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Regularly and clearly communicate to department staff and coaches and hold meetings in a professional fashion as needed to carry out assigned responsibilities or in support of the Athletic Director
Provide and implement a Diversity program that will assist student athletes, coaches and department staff members with training and compliance
Provide oversight of Athletic Training in regard to compliance and coverage for student athlete wellness and ensure safety is held at a high priority and that the training services comply with all requirements and regulations as appropriate
Oversee and apply for grants associated with Diversity, Student Athlete Services, NCAA Choices
Provide direct support and supervision to Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and ensure that regular programming is offered to support leadership development for all athletes
Manage the student athlete liaisons who oversee communication with advising, tutoring, and academic tracking and ensure that the student support programs are effective in enhancing academic success
In collaboration with the Registrar’s Office, determine eligibility status for all prospective, continuing and re-entering student-athletes on basis of review and verification of documentation of admissions, academic and athletic records; sport certification, staff and department certification, reporting of violations and recommending and assisting Athletic Director in enforcement of violation sanctions
Manage the maintenance of accurate records and proper storage of said records; report regularly to AD on such issues as requested
Ensure appropriate data are collected to support efforts for reporting GPA’s to Sports Information Director in order to complete student athlete nominations for department, conference and national academic awards and campus reports
Develop and maintain relationships with Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services and the Registrar to ensure timely dissemination of student information
Oversee the management of maintaining daily and yearly records of internal compliance questions, rules referenced, interpretations and sanctions
Analyze existing and proposed athletics policies, assist in the implementation of relevant procedures; recommend changes to enhance compliance with institutional and athletic policies
Make recommendations for policies and procedures; maintain department roster management database on student-athletes including providing data on student-athletes to liaison units or outside agencies upon request; input and maintain student-athlete information and athletics eligibility information
Stay current in issues, trends and best practices through a regular program of personal professional development, including active participation in NCAA sponsored seminars, conference meetings and conventions
Act on behalf of the Athletic Director and Institution when requested, representing the institution at meetings
Assist the Athletic Director with other duties as assigned, including Game Day Administration
Participate in yearly review of Athletic Program

The Assistant Director Diversity and Student Athlete Services will be one of five members of the Athletic Council (senior leadership team) which is comprised of the Athletic Director, Faculty Athletics Representative, and Assistant AD's. The successful candidate will be expected to attend weekly Athletic Council meetings to report on their supervisory area or administrative responsibility, and to lead portions of all department monthly meetings
Three years Athletics administration and/or coaching experience at the college level.
Prefer experience with NCAA Division III.
Extensive knowledge intercollegiate sports and athletic rules and regulations.
