The mission of Concordia University is to develop Christian leaders. The Math Department faculty wants to provide educational opportunities that prepare students to be Christian leaders in careers in mathematics.
The average size of a Mathematics class at Concordia is 15, and no classes are taught by teaching assistants. Mathematics faculty members pride themselves in their willingness to help their students explore, discover, and learn mathematics. They look forward to having the opportunity to help students learn mathematics outside of the classroom.
The career opportunities for students who major in mathematics are numerous. Industries are looking for students who major in mathematics because they have the problem solving skills and the analytical skills that their employees need. Some of the careers that mathematics majors have pursued are: programming, teaching, actuarial science, statistics, and operations research analysis. For those who wish to pursue teaching as a career, CTX has an excellent teacher education program.
