Smarthinking provides tutoring in Mathematics, Biology, Intro Human A & P, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Accounting, Intro to Finance, Statistics, Spanish, and Writing. Here's a complete description of subjects offered and times when service is available.

With Smarthinking you can:

  • Submit a Question and receive a reply from a tutor.

 

Follow these steps to get started:

Notice: In preparation for our whiteboard upgrade, we recommend that anyone accessing this service using IE 7 or 8, switch to IE 9, Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome at this time. Doing so will greatly enhance your experience.

Log in at blackboard.ctx.edu DO NOT try to log into the smarthinking.com website directly.

Once you log in, use the SMARTHINKING Student Handbook for tips on navigating the website and using the service.

Technology Requirements:

  • OS: Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac (10.4+)

  • Browser: Internet Explorer 7/8, Firefox 3.0+, and Safari Internet

  • Connection: 256 kbps or above

  • Outbound Port ot be opened: 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS/XMPP)

  • Memory: At least 256 MB RAM and a Pentium

  • Cookies/Javascript should be enabled.

  • Popup Blockers Please disable all popup blockers for www.smarthinking.com

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Make sure that your browser is set up to allow cookies and pop-up windows.
    SMARTHINKING uses both of these.
  • Make sure that you have Java installed. If you need to install Java, go to http://www.java.com, and follow the instructions for the free download.
  • Make sure that you have Flash version 7.0.19+ for Windows or 7.0.24+ for Mac OS X installed. If you need to install Flash, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/, and follow the instructions for the free download.
